Morphology of the Malachite

The Malachite has a base of composition of copper carbonate, of secondary origin that form itself in the deposit of copper due to the alteration of the sulphides when that contact the air.

It’s a mineral with a microcrystalline structure, but also fibrous more often in reniform or efflorescent aggregates, with an intense green color with curvilinear striations more clear and more dark.

It has poor hardness, it’s sensible to the intense heat and it results effervescent to the contact of hydrochloric acid.

The biggest fields of Malachite are in Africa in Zaire and Zambia, Russia, Australia and the United States.
